Frederick Douglass is known throughout history as a man who overcame a great deal of hardships. He followed his heart and his dreams of becoming a free man and accomplished just that. But, he didn't stop there. Once he escaped slavery, he realized he was a great speaker and became an abolitionist. He fought for civil rights of all people including women. As if that was not enough, he also had time to start a newspaper! He later wrote a book about the his life and the struggles he faced.
